RHSC is Moving!

Montclair State University has completed building a new Recreational Center on campus. The Center has a brand new 25 yard pool that RHSC will be using starting with the 4th session, April 14th. The Center is a state of the art recreational facility and the pool is six lanes and 25 yards with floor to ceiling windows.

RHSC will use the new Recreational Center for approximately one year. During that time, the University will renovate Panzer Pool with all new tiles and new windows. The times for practices will remain the same (5:30-6:30 p.m. Pre-Competitive Level and 6:30-8:00 p.m. Competitive Level).

The parking situation is slightly different, because parking in the Red Hawk Deck will necessitate an eight minute walk. The University will provide metered areas close to the Recreation Center.

New Campus Recreational Center Directions:
Continue past the Red Hawk Deck.
Take a right at the campus police building.
Go 100 yards and bear right up the hill (you will see University Hall on the right).
Continue past the Diner (the Diner will also be on your right).
The three-story glass building with large floor to ceiling windows facing NYC is the new Recreational Center.

Parking:
There are 17 metered spaces. Also, there are additional metered spaces next to the Diner and Blanton Hall.

Parents, you will be able to drop your child off in front of the center and pick them up there after all practices.

When Panzer reopens, it will be known as the updated and improved Panzer Athletic Center!

Summer Inclement Weather

In the event you should have questions concerning inclement weather and swimming practice, please call Joe on his cell phone at (973) 896-5387.

Joe will have his phone on him at all times, and especially during practice. If you are unable to reach him the first time, please leave a message and he will return your call.

If we are unable to swim outdoors at Verona, RHSC swimmers will move indoors at the University.

The Water Cube

It's innovative and modern.

Check out some of the first photos of the National Aquatic Center in Beijing, China. The Center, nicknamed "The Water Cube," will be the site of some of the most exciting sporting events of the Summer Olympics in 2008. Events include swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo matches.

The Water Cube's unique, soap bubble structual design embodies concepts for a very GREEN Olympics. You can read more about this environmentally friendly design on the official site for the 2008 Olympic Games, http://en.beijing2008.cn/77/47/article214004777.shtml.

The Aquatics Center will hold 17,000 spectators and boasts an impressive view of the pools from all angles.

PTW Architects partnered with the China State Construction Engineering Corporation to build this one-of-a-kind structure. The Water Cube is expected to be completed in October 2007. Article: Phelps Chases 8 Golds in Beijing

Along with US teammates Katie Hoff, Ryan Loche and Megan Jendrick, Michael Phelps visited Beijing and Shanghai, China to promote the Special Olympics scheduled to take place in the China in October.

However, it was the 2008 Summer Olympics on the minds and lips of reporters at the press conference. Following Phelps' SEVEN "golden" performances in Melbourne, Australia at the FINA World Swimming Championships which concluded April 1st, many wonder what Phelps' plans are for Beijing.
